What We Do
This office is charged with the responsibility of identifying all
habitable structures within Mineral County and assigning a
number (or address) the each structure in a logical manner.

Combined within the frame work of this project is the
responsibility of identifying every roadway and determining
what the local known name is (if any) for that roadway.

If there is no known name, then work in conjunction with
the property owners along a specific roadway (requiring a
name), in an effort to establish a usable name. A majority of
the property owners along the roadway are required to agree
upon a usable name for their roadway.

Most people believe that the addressing and mapping project
is a relatively simple project to complete but the truth of the
matter is that it is very complex in the fact the every I has to
be dotted and every T crossed in order to make the system to
function properly.

Identifying every roadway requires many man hours and
driving time throughout the county reviewing and updating
map's. While this process is going on we are identifying all
habitable structures and businesses through the county.

After the identification of structures has been completed we
start into the process of identifying roadway by their local
known name in order top speed up the addressing project.

The road naming process is not as simple as you may think it
is. The County Commission wanted to ensure that a majority
of property owners along a roadway have the opportunity to
name their road, seems easy doesn't it. Not everybody can
agree on a road name let alone a majority.

In the event an agreement can not be reached then the County
Commission has the responsibility for the naming of a  
county roadways, municipalities have the responsibility for
naming all roadways within their jurisdiction.
